Park City - Day…well the rest of the days

So I haven’t been as good at my blog this week as I thought I would be, so here is a recap of what we did for the rest of our vacation.  On Wednesday we drove into Salt Lake for a day of shopping.  We first went to Hip & Humble, it is a really awesome and eclectic little store.  After that Alex and I went to Modern Display the check out the Christmas deorations  This is one of our little traditions we do every year.  Next we ate at Hires Big H Drive-In…so yummy!  There was a party in my tummy…so yummy…so yummy!  Gourmet Magazine wrote this about Hires:

“Better to head for Hires Big H drive-in downtown, where actual carhops will take your order once you turn on your headlights. The Big H Burgers are fresh-ground, the buns the real item, the onion rings (served with another local wrinkle: ‘fry sauce,’ an amalgam of mayonnaise, ketchup, and who-knows-what secret ingredients) a credit to the genre.

Go native by ordering a Salt Lake favorite, the pastrami burger, an outrageous concept in which layers of cured meat add a salty, peppery je ne sais quoi to your basic hamburger patty. Finish with that classic Mormon cocktail, the frosty root beer float. Who cares if it’s winter? Utahns’ love affair with ice cream thrives year-round.”

Alison Cook, “Let the Games Begin,” Gourmet Magazine, Jan. 2000: 51

Alison is right…you should check out Hires if you are ever in SLC!!!  We went to Ikea next which I LOVE!!!  I didn’t buy anything because 1-I am poor and 2- Alex and I already have to much stuff jam packed into out 777 square foot house.  But when we move into our new house we will have to do some serious shopping at Ikea.

The Cheesecake Factory just opened up its first restaurant in Utah last Thursday so of course we had to get some cheesecake.  Alex had the Oreo and I, of course, had the Keylime.  Why would I get anything else?

Last stop was Costco.  I know it is hard to believe but we didn’t actually buy anything.  I think that is a first for…well anyone.  By this time Paige was SO done shopping so we headed back to the resort.

On Thursday Kelli was back in Park City with us so we headed back to Main Street to do a little portrait session.  Here are some of the shots from the day:

After we finished taking pictures we ate at The Eating Establishment.

It was pretty good.  I had the hamburger…Alex had the french dip and Kelli had the salad.  After that we went back to the resort and relaxed in the pool.

Friday was check out day…so after we checked out we headed back into SLC to watch Union play Judge Memorial in the state playoff game.  Sadly, Union got their butts handed to them.  Better luck next year!!!

It was a great week.  Can’t wait to go on the next vacation…I want to go to Oregon next!

Park City - Day Three

Today was pretty kick back.  We just hung out and relaxed all of the morning.  Paige and Bridget had matching jammies.  We call them little inch worms!  At about 12:30 we headed to Red Rock Brewingfor some tasty yummyness.  It was SO good!  If you are ever in SLC or Park City you should definitely check it out!  After that we walked around the Redstone outdoor shopping and found a really cute shop called Paisley Pomegranate.  They had such unique and cute things!  Some of the funniest things in there were these notepads by knock knock!  You need to check them out!

The rest of the day we spent at the Resort relaxing in the awesome pools and watching movies!

Here are a few images from the day:

Park City - Day One

Our first night was pretty uneventful for the most part.  We checked into the Marriott Mountain Side and found our rooms at the very end of the hotel.  It’s a nice place but a little small.  We had some dinner (pizza and salad) and then we all just kind of crashed.  Kelli, Alex and I went swimming while mom, Brenda, James, Bridget, and Paige hung out in the room.

The next morning, we had a delish breakfast (my sister’s scrambled eggs are to die for) and then went to the outlet stores.  The weather was perfect as we walked around.  We made sure to hit the kids stores (Old Navy, Children’s Place and Carters) but also hit some of Kelli’s favorite stores.  We came away with some super cute clothes (mom got two really cute jackets at Old Navy) and lots of cute clothes for the babies.  Mom bought Bridget and Paige a cute matching outfits and I can’t wait to put Paige in it!

After our shopping spree was over, we went to Ruby Tuesday’s for lunch.  The service was a little slow but the food was good (yummy strawberry lemonade).  Dad, Tara and Brian met us over there and we all enjoyed a little refreshment.  Tara wanted to hit the outlet stores so she took Brian and went over there while the rest of us went back to the hotel.

Mom and dad went down to browse Main Street while the rest of us laid around and watched “John Tucker Must Die”, a very good movie.  Jack and Bailey finally made it and we all went down to go swimming.  But it was too cold for the little babies so Brenda and I sat in the lobby and talked.  I love my sister.

While we were bonding, Kelli had an admirer at the pool, a very sweet handicap boy was infatuated with her (who wouldn’t be, she’s a hottie) and wanted to be around her.  Mom and dad came back from Main Street and went to swim with the babies and after a while, they came out of the pool and took our babies so Brenda and I could go for a dip with our sweeties.  The pools here are freakin awesome!!!!  It was so nice to just relax in the warm pool with Alex, he’s so cute.

After our swimming fun, we headed back to the hotel and ordered pizza from Red Banjo Pizza.  If you ever get a chance to visit Park City you need to eat there!  It is the best pizza I have had since I lived in New York!!!  After pizza, we hung around and watched TV.  Brian and Tara came down with the kids and hung around for a while.  It was fun to play with them.  Then it was time for sleepy time.  Night night!

A few pics from the day…not alot going on today to take pics of!  More tomorrow!

Pretty much the best blog entry ever…

Written by Guest Blogger, Tonya’s big sister Brenda (as stylishly shown below) - Well, I’m throwing Tonya a fricken bone here and writting her blog today.  This picture below is probably one of the best she’s ever taken, I mean come on, what’s not to like?  There’s me (I’m looking pretty hot, note the killer red highlights), my chubby hubby James and then the creme de la creme of our family, my beautiful Bridget.  Cute name, cute baby!  Bridget has completed our family and we love her a lot.  She’s only 3 1/2 months old but she’s already a spit fire!

family3.jpg

What can I say about my Bailey?  She is my sweetheart and I love her.  I’m also her favorite aunt and she loves to tease Tonya about it.  Our family wouldn’t be complete with out this little firecracker and I love her a lot!

family5.jpg

My brother has a pretty cute family.  Jack and Bailey love to laugh and tease, especially when they are supposed to be serious!  And what you can’t see in this picture is soon to arrive baby Ballou, which will take the grandkid count up to 5 next spring.

family4.jpg

My bubba is so cute!  He loves to have fun and he will always have a special spot in my heart.  He was the first nephew and grandchild and is such a sweetheart.  He is kind and loving and always the first to give hugs and kisses!

family2.jpg

This is such a cute pictures of my mom and Bailey.  They both look so good in red and with the background color, it looks amazing!  Bailey and her Grandma Trenna have lots of fun together and I know that Grandma loves Bailey in a special way.

family1.jpg

It’s an honor to be Tonya’s guest blogger today.  She’s pretty much the best sister in the world.  Seriously, her pictures are flipping amazing and I know that she gets a lot of her creative energy from the good example of her big sister.  I can’t go as far to say I taught her everything she knows, but you know, I am pretty influential in her life.  She’s my best friend and the best sister a girl can have.  I love her so much and I’m so glad that our baby girls will get to grow up together!  I think motherhood would have been a lot harder if I didn’t have Tonya to go through it with.  Me love her long time!!

Halloween Pumpkins

Next to Christmas, Halloween is my favorite holiday.  This year was especially exciting for Alex and I.  We dressed up Paige as a Tulip Fairy (more pictures to come soon) and she was adorable!  A few days before we carved pumpkins at Alex’s mom’s house.  Here are all of the pumpkins carved that night.  The bat one is my nephew Christians pumpkin, the next one is ‘Jack the Pumpkin King’ from Nightmare Before Christmas.  That one is J.R’s he loves Jack Skellington!  The next one is me sister-in-law’s Stephanie.  She is a bit fan of B-Ball.  Jacque, my other sister-in-law did a really cool pumpkin with flowers and butterflies.  My niece Sammy’s pumpkin is next in line with the cute little ghost face.  So cute huh!  The comes my father-in law’s pirate ship pumpkin.  Pretty cool I think.  Paige’s little monster pumpkin in next (total pain in the butt to carve that on a tiny pumpkin BTW!) Next is my KILLER cat pumpkin.  Last of all is Alex’s cool pirate skull pumpkin.  What do you think?  Pretty cool this year I think!
