Uintah Arts Council Annual Juried Photography Show

Posted in Personal by Tonya Peterson on October 9, 2008

Yeah!  9 days straight of blogging!!!  I am doing good!

Ok so now to the Art Show.  Every year Alex and I enter the local photography show, and this year we got my mom, my brother Brian and Alex’s sister Stephanie (or as I like to call her . . . Fifi) to enter too.  It was a lot of fun going to the awards ceremony tonight!

Here is Alex’s Picture Newport Sunset.  It took 1st place in the Professional Landscape Division.

Alex’s other picture named American Made took 2nd place in the Theme category

My picture of millie and aver took 2nd place in the Pro Portrait division.

My mom took 1st place with this cute picture!  YEAH!  Go Mom!!!

The judges must have been blind because somehow these 2 pictures of Brian’s and Fifi’s pictures slipped by them.

Here is one of Brian’s pictures he entered.  Isn’t it awesome?!?!?

I was totally shocked when Stephanie didn’t with the flora and fauna category with this.  The colors are so beautiful and I just think it is amazing!

I am just really excited that I am getting more people that I love excited about photography!  I am so glad that Fifi, Brian and my mom entered and I hope they enter it again next year!

These pictures are awesome. I agree the judges most have been out to lunch to miss those last two. The only place I have seen a more convincing demonstration of the power of the way photography make us see is in a Lakaota tribal museum in North Dakota. A whole group of 7-9 year olds were given cameras to shoot pictures of life on the reservation. The pictures made me see through their eyes and broke my heart all at the same time. It sounds like you have shared your gift of vision also.
